Bixby exterior repaint - House Painter

Overview

This house painting was fairly strait forward and routine.  There were no major problems to speak of and everything went quickly and smoothly. The body had lap siding and the trim is smart-board. There was some minor rot that was replaced.

Products

Kelly-moore paint was used throughout this house.

Sperry interior complete repaint - Wood Paneling - Killz

Overview:

This 14 hundred square foot home in sperry was in bad shape when I started.  The wood panelling throughout made it look dated and worn.  There was an extensive amount of prep word to do as all of the trim and panels needed to be caulked.  There were many holes that needed to be filled along with some minor repairs and trim that needed to be nailed back into place.

This job was made complicated because the original walls (paneling) needed to be primed and sealed with an oil based primer.  If this step is skiped the tannins and stains from the paneling will bleed through the finished paint no matter how many coats you put on.

After masking the wood floor we were able to make all necessary repairs and then prime and paint the walls, ceiling, and trim.

Materials:

Killz original oil based sealer/primer to seal every surface.

Sherwin Williams Promar 200 - eggshell for the walls, ceiling, and trim.

Sherwin Williams Promar 200 - Semi-gloss for the cabinets.

36th and Harvard - Tulsa house exterior paint

Overview:

This house was in quite bad shape.  Huge sections of old paint were peeling off in big flakes.  It was clearly poorly done the last time it was painted.  Most of my time was spent preping this house to accept the paint.

It was horrible dirty so pressure washing and a bit of scrubbing were in order.  Then came more than a full day of scraping, and almost 2 days of priming and caulking.

There were several obsacles to overcome on this projects. The terrain in the back was attrocious.  There was a big pile of loose bricks right in the one place that a long extention ladder was needed.

The other problem that I encountered was the weather.  This exterior paint job was started late in the season and I had to work around the temperature.  The paint I used is rated to be applied down to 35 degrees. So I had to time it just right so as the paint would have enough time to cure and dry before the weather got bad.  I finished the day before the first big cold from came into Tulsa.

Midtown Bungalow Interior and Exterior

Overview

This painting project included a lot of different smaller paint jobs.  The bigest portion of the work was painting the trim and walls in the office.  The office was previously painted with a faux finish and it took several coats to cover properly.  This job also included repairing water damage in the dining room (the window had leaked and the paint was pealing off the trim and wall), staining and clear coating an interior door, painting 3 exterior doors, repaint the entire exterior of the garage including a new man door and garage door. I also touched up and repainted various imperfections throughout the house including chips and marks and water damage.

Products

This painting project called for nearly 8 different colors and as many products.  Sherwin Williams products were used throughout.  Superpaint Satin for the exterior doors and garage. Promar 200 for the walls, trim, and ceilings.

Midtown Faux Finish in Bathroom

Overview

At this painting project I was asked to repair and paint the walls, ceiling, and trim in a bathroom.  The walls were covered with wallpaper which my client removed himself.  Behind the wallpaper the walls were in pretty bad shape.  Skim coating the walls and ceiling was in order but before the walls could be prepared they had to be primed so as to stop any residual wallpaper glue from bleeding.  So, after preparing the walls and ceiling and sanding them to a new smooth and strait finish, the trim and ceiling were painted.  Afterward the walls were painted with 2 coats of base color and then finished with an rag rolled faux finish to match the style of the bathtub surround.

After receiving several estimates for work that needed to be done on our home, we chose Dukes Painting.  Marty Dukes did an outstanding job on our exterior painting!  His professionalism, attention to detail and excellent work made us look forward to hiring him again!  He took care of more than we had asked once he realized that the wood around our windows needed to be replaced, not just painted.  We appreciate his honesty and great skills. More important than paint on our house, he was so kind to our two small children who were interested in watching him work for two days!  They kept a close eye on him and he was a great sport!  Thank you, Marty for taking care of our home's curb appeal! Thanks so much for everything!!!
